Do you know the real meaning of Stickers on fruits ?

Generally, we find stickers on the fruits as nuisance. However, this is not the case. They serve more purpose than just indicating the price tag.

This is called PLU code or in other words, Price Lookup number. It also tells you how the fruit was grown. By reading the PLU code, you can tell if the fruit was genetically modified, organically grown or produced with chemical fertilizers, fungicides, or herbicides.
Conventionally (grown with chemicals and pesticides) grown fruits have four digit numbers on the stickers. All four letters of the PLU code are simply what kind of vegetable or fruit. There are different codes for different types of fruits and vegetables. An example is that all bananas are labeled with the code of 4011, while 4131 is code for apple.
Non Organic fruits ( Genetically modified Food) have a five digit code beginning with the number “8”.Note that if you're looking up information on the PLU code, do not include the first number of a 5-digit code—the first number is just an identifier for GMO products. For example, 4011 would be a standard yellow banana, but an 84011 would be a genetically modified standard yellow banana. However, almost 26 countries have banned GMO foods.
Organic fruits have a five digit code beginning with the number “9”.If there are five numbers in the PLU code, and the number starts with “9”, this tells you that the produce was grown organically and is not genetically modified. An organic banana would be: 94011. However you can see the lemon as shown below.
So, next time when you choose the fruit from the market, Please make sure the types of fruits you want to buy. Also consider a word of caution that this PLU system is voluntary and it is not necessary that every manufacturer uses them.

SPACE WARNING: Biggest asteroid ever observed to whizz passed Earth in September

On September 1, Nasa says that a huge asteroid is set to skim past Earth. The asteroid has been dubbed ‘Florence’ and experts believe that it is about 2.7 miles in length and is one of the largest that the space agency has ever detected and the largest to ever fly past Earth without hitting it. For reference, the asteroid which wiped out the dinosaurs was around six miles in length, it is believed. Florence will fly by at a relatively safe distance of 4.4 million miles away – around 18 times the distance between the Earth and the moon – but still close enough to be classed as a ‘near-Earth object’.            The asteroid is 2.7 miles in length Paul Chodas, manager of Nasa’s Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) at the agency's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, said: “While many known asteroids have passed by closer to Earth than Florence will on September 1, all of those were estimated to be smaller. “Florence is the largest asteroid to pass b...
